Aukje Beers wins Unilever research prize!

Former MSc Chemistry student Aukje Beers has won the Unilever research prize! The Unilever Research Prize is a yearly award granted to young scientists from Dutch universities, with the aim to support talent in science; those who have done exceptional work on topics that are relevant to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals. Aukje won this prize for her MSc research project on the discovery of drug candidates for the treatment of breast cancer. She discovered two very interesting inhibitors and the compounds that were the results of her research will be patented and published in a prominent scientific journal.

Aukje graduated summa cum laude last May and is currently working on a PhD with the research group of Mario van der Stelt.
