From September 2026 onward, the High-Tech Innovation specialisation will be offered to Chemistry students. This specialisation requires your to fulfill 60 EC Chemistry programme and 60 EC specialisation programme. Therfore, you could switch to this specialisation in September 2026 and graduate with this specialisation when you started in September 2025.

The High-Tech Innovation specialisation has been requested by the High-Tech sector in The Netherlands, who are looking for interdisciplinary personnel. They require specialists with intersectional knowledge of chemistry, physics, mathmatics and computer science.
This faculty-widespecialisation blends discipline-specific scientific knowledge with business and managerial skills. It is designed to meet the evolving needs of start-ups and companies, where a combination of scientific knowledge and effective management has become increasingly important.
Besides 60 EC Chemistry programme, you will do 60 EC specialisation-specific components. These are:
- 3 EC orientation
- 10 EC advanced courses in your primary degree (in your case Chemistry)
- 17 EC within joint programmes (Physics, Astronomy, Computer Science, Mathmatics)
- 30 EC internship with a company
