Honours Academy

Students looking for more of a challenge in their master's programme can apply for extracurricular courses at the Honours Academy. They organise the Leiden Leadership Programme, the International Leiden Leadership Programme and the Master Honours Classes.

Leiden Leadership Programme

The Leiden Leadership Programme (LLP) offers an extracurricular honours programme for master’s students at Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam. The programme focuses on leadership and co-operation and helps students to discover their own qualities. A 20 EC Dutch-taught programme is available (starting in September), as well as a 5 EC International programme (starting at the end of January). For more information about the programme and the selection criteria, visit the Honours Academy website for the LLP or the International LLP.

Master Honours Classes

Honours Classes are advanced, small-scale classes that focus on complex academic and societal topics. These challenging topics require an interdisciplinary approach with guest lectures from different research specialisations. This approach, combined with the fact that each honours class is made up of students from all disciplines, means students get the opportunity to learn about other fields of study.

Students who complete a Master Honours Class receive an Honours Class certificate. Additionally, the class will be mentioned on the diploma supplement of the student’s master programme as an extracurricular component. Different Master Honours Classes are offered each year, usually starting in November and March. More information can be found on the Honours Academy website and in the Prospectus.
