The research proposal by three master students from the master programs Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Life Science and Technology has been selected for the NWO Top Sector Chemistry Student Competition. Team captain Sandra Wiegman, Casper de Boer and Maurits Brandt were awarded a grant to execute their proposal at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry in the research group of Marc Koper this summer and present the results at the CHAINS 2014 meeting this fall. Their proposal describes a stabilized bio-electrochemical continuous reverse fuel cell that can convert carbon dioxide in methanol using four commercially available proteins.
